Pact in Nigeria is recruiting for the following position:

Title: Finance Officer
Requisition Number: 11-0035
Location: Abuja

Position Summary:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for day-to-day financial administration of a proposed Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Umbrella Grants Mechanism project.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
•         Work closely with the Director of Grants & Finance to provide support to financial control and oversight systems in compliance with Pact and donor's regulations and according to Nigerian accounting standards.
•         Provide financial control and oversight systems in compliance with Pact and USAID regulations and according to the customary accounting standards of Nigeria.
•         Prepare Journal entries
•         Photocopy finance documents, vouchers etc.
•         Ensure proper interpretation and application of donor procedures and regulations.
•         Ensure that adequate supporting documents are attached to the payment vouchers and that all invoices are in accordance to the Purchase Orders for the good and/or services rendered before issuing of the payment/journal entries.
•         Custodian of all approved and posted payment vouchers and journal vouchers including supporting documents for all projects.
•         Other duties as assigned by the Director of Grants & Finance or Chief of Party.

Qualifications:
•         Strong written and oral communication ability.
•         Computer literacy (word processing and spreadsheet).
•         Fluency in English.

Education and Experience Requirements:
•         Energetic team player who enjoys working with NGOs.
•         Bachelor's Degree in field(s) relevant to fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities as described above. Preference to Certified Public Accountants or holders of advanced degrees/certificates.
•         At least five years of progressively responsible experience as a financial manager, officer or senior accountant including experience working with non-profit organizations and international donors (required).
•         Experience in formulating training programs for NGOs in financial management.
•         Preference for candidates which have been involved in grants management, and can articulate the role of grants in development assistance.
•         Experience in auditing a plus.
