Fernabahce of Turkey new signing Emmanuel Emenike says the prospect of playing alongside Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo is one of the reasons why he decided to sign a four-year deal with the Turkish champions.

The 24-year-old Emenike was impressive in his first season in the Turkish topflight, scoring 14 goals for Karabukspor with several top European sides battling for his services but he opted to join Yobo at Fenerbahce last month.

"My move to Fernabahce was a personal decision," the forward, who scored for the Eagles in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Argentina, told our correspondent on the telephone on Thursday.

"However, when Fernabahce officials spoke with me, I decided to join them. Yobo is a very inspirational person on and off the pitch and it would be great to play alongside a great player like him," Emenike added.

The striker, who came on for Everton forward, Victor Anichebe during the friendly match against Argentina, completed the rout of the South Americans when he scored the Eagles' fourth goal with a sublime chip over the Argentine goalkeeper in the 48th minute. It was his first goal in two matches for the Eagles.

Emenike said, "I am so happy to have scored for my country. I was looking forward to scoring on my debut against Sierra Leone in February but I got injured and couldn't complete the game. It's a dream come true to have done that against a big side like Argentina.

"I hope to score more goals for Nigeria because that is my job as a striker. But again the most important thing is to help the Eagles win games, so I will give my best to ensure that we win our games always."
