To maintain contacts, the following former DAAD scholarship holders can apply for a re-invitation: One-year scholarship holders, study scholarship holders, research grant holders with a scholarship/grant lasting more than six months as well as scholarship holders who studied in East Germany (DDR) for at least one year. The stay aims to enable the holder to carry out a research project or another project at a public or state-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institution.

Duration:
Depending on the applicant's work schedule, the research stay can last between one and three months.

Value:
•   Depending on the applicant's academic status, the monthly award will amount to 1840 EUR for assistant lecturers, assistant professors and young lecturers, and 1990 EUR for professors. In exceptional cases, 2240 EUR may be awarded.
•   In addition to these payments, the DAAD will cover travel costs for applicants from certain countries, unless these costs are covered by the home country or by another funding source.

Requirements:
•   Applications for re-invitations are open to the above-specified former scholarship holders (alumni) who have been back in their home country for at least three years.
•   The most important selection criterion is a convincing and well-planned research or work project to be completed during the stay in Germany.
•   The content and schedule must have been coordinated and agreed with an academic supervisor or research collaboration partner at the German host institution in question.
•   Written confirmation of the planned cooperation project, including express reference to the applicant's project, must be included with the application.
•   The application must include proof of a workplace being provided at the host institute.
•   DAAD support for a research or work stay can only be awarded once in any three-year period.

Application papers:
Detailed information on the application papers which need to be submitted can be found on the Application Form for Research Stays and Study Visits for University Academics and Scientists" which can be obtained here.
