A Vietnamese man is carrying an 186lb tumor on his leg. Nguyen Duy Hai developed the extra growth as a child -- by his teenage years it already weighed more than 60 pounds. VietNamNet reports his desperate attempts at treatment.

"His family took him to the Lam Dong General Hospital for treatment, but doctors failed to identify the cause. His family asked doctors to cut off the excess growth." The amputation -- did nothing. Hai's tumor continued to grow, taking over the entire lower half of his body. Nguyen's doctor says the growth is non-cancerous, allowing the man to lead a normal -- yet sedentary lifestyle aided entirely by his 61-year old mother.

"As per the Head of examination department of Hanoi tumor hospital, Vu Van Thach, the reported tumor growth of Hai is by far the greatest ever documented in the Hanoi tumor hospital." Doctors believe the tumor can be successfully removed - but Nguyen's family has no money for the procedure. Worldwide Friday, a sympathetic media picked up his plea for funding.
