Finland: Europe’s most expensive country

The price level in Finland was 23 percentage points above the EU average in 2010, according Statistics Finland. The highest consumer prices in Europe were found in Switzerland and the lowest in Macedonia.

The 2010 statistics reveal Finland as one of the most expensive countries in Europe, along with the other Nordic countries. However, the prices of Finnish telecommunications services fell below the EU average.

Sweden, Luxemburg and Ireland are nearly as expensive as Finland.

Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia were the cheapest European countries in terms of consumer prices. These countries' price levels were only about half of the EU average.

Out of the 17 euro zone countries, Finland emerged as the most expensive.
