Jonathan picks Abati, Oghiadomhe, others as aides

 PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday approved the appointment of 18 principal aides who will assist him in discharging his obligations to the nation.

The 18 would be sworn in today by 2.00 p.m. at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A statement from Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, showed that while Mr. Mike Oghiadomhe returns as the Chief of Staff to the President, Chairman, Editorial Board of The Guardian, Dr. Reuben Abati, is the Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) and Oronto Douglas is Special Adviser (Research and Strategy).

Abati was until his new appointment the Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian.

He holds Ph.D and LL.B of the University of Ibadan and Lagos State University respectively after a first class honours B.A (Theatre Arts) of the University of Calabar.

Until his foray into journalism, Abati was a lecturer at the Ogun State University.

He has won many honours, prizes, distinctions and awards.  He has many scholarly publications.

Mohammed Kachala Abubakar is the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ambassador Hassan Tukur returns as the Principal Secretary to the President and Senator Joy Emordi is the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters.

Other Special Advisers include Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Energy; Mrs. Sarah Jibril, Ethics and Values; Mrs. Sarah Akuben Pane, Social Development; Dr. Tunji Olagunju, NEPAD; Kingsley Kuku, Niger Delta Affairs; Dr. Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi, International Relations; Prof. Dan Adebiyi, Special Duties; Mrs. Asma'u Abdulkadir, Gender Issues; Nze Sullivan Akachukwu Nwakpo, Technical Matters; Yakubu Abdullahi, Political Matters to the Vice President; Barrister Bashir Sufyan, Legal Matters to the Vice President; and Senator Isaiah Ballat, Special Duties, Office of the Vice President.
