Girl's hand amputated in Zamfara state

At the weekend, Fatima Lawal, 18, had her left hand amputated by a gang of three teenagers at Kofar Jange, in Gusau, Zamfara State, 12 days to her wedding day.

According to an eyewitness, the three teenagers ambushed the young lady, who was on her way to the market to buy some things. She was accosted by the gang, one of the accused took a matchet and amputated her left arm. The gang took to their heels after the incident.

Newsmen gathered that Lawal was immediately taken to hospital, where she is now receiving treatment.

Speaking from her sick bed, Lawal said, she had nothing to do with gang. However, she said before the attack, a group of youths molested her and took her handbag.

When newsmen called on the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Sanusi Amiru, in Zamfara, he explained that the three teenagers were under the police custody helping them in their investigation.
