Wayne Rooney’s Father Arrested In Betting Probe

Wayne Rooney's father has been arrested as part of an investigation into betting irregularities at a Scottish Premier League football match.

Police did not name the suspect but offered details of the arrest in response to a question about the elder Rooney, who is also called Wayne.

The younger Rooney, who plays for Manchester United and England's national soccer team, has not been implicated in the investigation.

The investigation focuses on a match between Motherwell and Hearts on December 14. Police say eight other men, including Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings, were also arrested in the probe.
