Ogunyimika Assures Constituents

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ife-North Local Government Council Area of Osun State, Honourable Lanre Ogunyimika, has reiterated his resolve to make his council area better than the way he met it.

Ogunyimika in a chat with newsmen in his office at Ipetumodu, last Thursday, said no government could solve all the challenges facing the governed, but his tenure would make a difference by ensuring even distribution of dividends of democracy.

The council chairman said it was necessary for those in positions of authorities to operate with the fear of God, as the Supreme Being was watching what mere mortals could not see.

He said people should not show interest in government because of self-enrichment, but pure and genuine service to the people.

In his words: "The very day I became chairman of the caretaker committee of this council, I made a resolve that my priority would be how to touch the lives of the people collectively, through establishment of social infrastructure within the financial capability of our council.

"Those challenges we could not solve locally would be referred to the state with a view to giving same prompt attention."

Ogunyimika also stated that his family name, which he had to protect, has been guiding him in his daily activities, adding that there is nothing he could not do to ensure that the name is intact.

Speaking on his achievements so far, the council caretaker chairman said his administration had constructed office extension for transport section of his council and renovated and painted the secretariat.

According to the council boss, drainage at Ipetumodu, Yakoyo and Edunabon; distribution of farm implements, inputs and seedling to farmers; electricity extension at Ipetumodu and repairs of tractors and graders are some of his achievements.

"Some of the other achievements of my administration I can remember are construction of health centre at Aborisade Village, construction of culverts at Kilibi Village, distribution of foods for aged and widows and distribution of exercise books and textbooks to school children," Ogunyimika said.
