Islamic Organization Donates To The Poor

An Islamic organization, Jamantul  Taawun,  based in Iwo, the headquarter of Iwo Local Government Council Area, Osun state, has donated relief materials to the widows and orphans in two senatorial districts of the state.

The materials donated included cash and cloths to the less-privileged in the five local government council areas.

The five council areas that had benefited so far included Iwo, Ola- Oluwa, Ayedire, Ede and Osogbo.

According to the organization, the materials were donated by the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola to bring succour to the widows and orphans in the state in order to give them a sense of belonging.

The chairman of the occasion, Professor Supo Ladipo commended the organization for the initiative, saying the people-oriented programmes of the Islamic group should be encouraged.

He said the sincerity of purpose and passion of the organization for development has singled it out as a religious organization which is interested in the people's welfare and good governance.

He also urged the beneficiaries, especially the orphans, to see the gifts as motivation to improve on their education, so as to be useful to the society.

Ladipo therefore called on other religious organizations to emulate the gestures of Taawun in contributing to the development of the state.

Earlier in his address, the Amir Taawun, Alhaji Imuraheen Daud lauded Governor Aregbesola and Honourable Abdul- Gafar Rabiu for their support and donations, which aided the actualization of the programme.

He called on well-meaning individuals in the society to support the initiatives of the organization, especially assisting the less-privileged on education in order to secure good future for them.

More than 300 orphans and widows benefited from the donations.
