Ayeni Empowers Osun Youths

Creating more job opportunities for the teeming youths of Osun State has been described as a panacea to social vices in the state.

This was disclosed by a philanthropist in Ilesa West Local Government Council Area,  at the commissioning of an empowerment centre recently in Ilesa, Osun State.

The empowerment centre which is tagged Honourable L.B. Babatunde Ayeni, Foundation Centre, took place at House 201, Okesa Street, Ilesa in Osun State.

Ayeni, who was behind this gesture, stated that the programme was aimed at eradicating poverty from the state, especially in Osun State.

He added that the foundation was determined to add value into the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola's empowerment programme, especially the Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) that had engaged 20,000 youths in Osun State in the first 100 days of his administration.

He maintained that the programme was with the intention to assisting the teaming youth of Osun to be self-reliant at all levels, and to economically empower them, so as to guarantee the future generation.

He added that the development would be extremely effective in the eradication of poverty in the state.

Some of the focuses of the empowerment programme included the youth empowerment, poverty eradication, partnering in the economic transformation of Osun-State, promoting self-reliance economy and much more.

Babatunde said that the foundation had already taken off on September 2011 at Okesa Street, Ilesa with about 700 trainees in different vocational and sport development programmes, and that there would be no fee charged.

He added that the empowerment programme was his own contribution to reducing the level of poverty, social vices, unemployment, crime rates, as well as the acceleration of economic development, increase in the tax net, creating wealth and the upliftment of the quality of life in the state.

He also mentioned that the empowerment centre was equipped with the latest state-of-art technology and provides the best for the trainees.

"Our sports and vocational training programme is packaged to take trainees through all spheres of entrepreneurial skill acquisition and sports development programme," he added.

He ended the speech by enjoining the people of Ilesa to co-operate with him and support him in actualizing the dream.

"I therefore want to use this opportunity to seek your co-operation and support to actualize this dream, because the only way to leave a lasting legacy of meaningful development with decreased level of poverty is to create jobs and wealth for the citizenry," he concluded.

A reception was later held for dignitaries that attended the occasion at Ijesa Sports Club in Ilesa.
