Nigeria's Under-23 football team, the Dream Team V has been knocked out of the football event of the 2012 London Olympics after they lost 1-2 to Senegal at the CAF qualifiers in Morocco on Tuesday night.

The team had lost their first game of the competition against hosts, Morocco and could not avoid defeat against their West African rivals.

In a first half lacking genuine quality, neither side dominated completely, although Senegal looked marginally better when going forward.

The Senegalese duly made their marginal advantage count following a shocking bit of goalkeeping by the Nigeria's Dele Ajiboye in the 34th minute.

The keeper inexplicably came off his line and found himself in no man's land following a cross into the penalty area; Kara Mbodj was left with the simple task of looping his header past the stranded keeper to give the young Teranga Lions a 1-0 advantage.

Eight minutes later, it was 2-0 to Senegal with the keeper again culpable.

Abdoulaye Sane's 42nd minute strike was always going to be a sucker punch for Nigeria and even Danny Uchechi's strike, four minutes after the break only proved to be scant consolation as the Senegalese claimed important points.

The Nigerian coach, Augustine Eguavoen said his boys did not play to instructions after the game.

"I take responsibility for the (Tuesday's) result. The game did not go the way we planned because the boys did not keep to instructions in the first half." he told SuperSport.com.
