  President Jonathan  ...says FG is committed to child education

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday reiterated government’s commitment to the provision of  opportunities for the Nigerian children to access quality education.

He said it was an enormous task that cannot be left to the government alone, adding that there should be collective participation of communities.

The President spoke at the official commissioning and handing over to the state government of the Model Almajiri Boarding Primary School at Gagi town in Sokoto South local government.

Jonathan after commissioning also registered and took photograph with the 50 pioneer pupils.

According to him, government was tailoring its focus towards integrating the Almajiri system to a more conventional system that would reflect the western system such that the system would be technologically driven in line with realities of time.

He said government had contracted 35 such schools across northern states including Edo which has expressed interest, adding that ‘’ there are 10 boarding and 25 day schools which will be handed to respective state governments for routine maintenance and auxiliary services.”  

‘’ This is the first Model School dedicated to the Almajiri to ensure education for all Nigerian children in order to sustain access to quality education by generations, “ the president said.

Jonathan while handing over the school edifice to Governor Aliyu Wamakko before 36 first class chiefs and Emirs from the North led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III extolled the revered virtues and contributions of the renowned Jihadist, Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodiyo and the caliphate as a centre of educational excellence for demonstrating the service of scholarship.
