This was contained in a statement in Kaduna signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army, Minna, Col. Texas Chukwu.

According to the statement, the examination will take place between April 16 and April 20 while the candidates are drawn from army formations across the country.

"Sixteen majors and 117 captains will sit for Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination.

"The essence of the examination is to test the middle cadre officers' ability in tactical issues and professional competence," he added.

It said the examination was part of the requirement which every combatant officer must pass to qualify for promotion to the ranks of Major and Lieutenant Colonel, respectively.

The Commander of TRADOC, Maj. -Gen.  Joseph Okunbor, will address the candidates and the examination panel on the exercise on Sunday.

It, therefore, called on the people not to panic as there would be mass movement of military vehicles and personnel within and outside Kaduna during the exercise.
