Ibori’s conviction exposes flaws in Nigeria’s judiciary — Akeredolu

Ibori was sentenced to 13 years in prison by the South Wark Court in London over money laundering. According to Akeredolu, the judgment confirms the extent of criminal compromise in the system.  

"We found ourselves in a situation where a person accused of looting billions of Naira dictated where he would like to be tried. Not only did he choose the forum of trial, he insisted on being availed of the reasons why his attention was needed by the anti-graft body. He procured judgment and not justice from the Nigerian judiciary," he said.

It is very obvious that are flaws in Nigeria Judiciary system, following the Ibori's conviction in the UK. Before the conviction, a Delta state court declared Ibori innocent and striked out all charges against him.
