Reps to probe National Housing Fund

Abuja—The House of Representatives yesterday mandated its Committees on Housing Habitat, Finance, Banking and Currency to investigate the National Housing Fund to ascertain contributors to the fund, amount contributed and whether employers remitted money contributed by their employees to the fund.

Adopting a motion brought by Innocent Tirsel, the House noted that though employers had religiously made deductions from employees' basic salaries, no visible and tangible result was seen as housing problems in the country were on the increase, with their attendant problems on the citizens.

The House further noted that unless details of contributions and usage of the funds were uncovered, some unscrupulous people would continue to feed fat on the labour and contribution of hard working Nigerians.
