The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,  Prof. Attahiru Jega,  has said the 2015 general election would be the best ever conducted in the country, based on strategies now in place.

Jega, who spoke on Thursday in Paris, France, said the commission would spare no effort to make the general election, not only the best in Nigeria’s political history, but also the most acceptable to the citizenry.

A statement released on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kayode Idowu, said the INEC boss attended a luncheon held in his honour by the staff of the Nigerian embassy in that European country.

``Between now and 2015, the commission would put many structures in place to ensure that the 2015 elections are not only the best in the history of our country but also the most accepted by our citizens.

``I assure Nigerians that the commission will achieve seamless integration of the data of voters and institutionalise continuous voter registration before the 2015 general election, '' the statement quoted the INEC chairman as saying at the luncheon.

He said the commission had set up data bases at the national and state level as part of efforts aimed at institutionalising a system of continuous voter registration.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Jega led an INEC delegation to Paris at the invitation of French government to observe the country’s presidential election on Sunday.
