The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, has denied media reports alleging that his convoy was attacked by the Boko Haram sect in Kano State.

This was contained in a statement issued by Mr Olusola Amore, the Force Public Relations Officer on Thursday.

The statement, however, noted that some unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot two policemen at a filling station at Hotoro area in Kano on Thursday.

It added that the incident was nowhere near the IG's convoy nor disrupted his visit to the state.

"The two policemen are not in the IG's convoy. They are among those deployed to a nipping point for security in the Hotoro area of Kano."

It described the news of the attack on the IG as "false and misleading'' and called on journalists to verify facts before publishing. NAN
