Team Nigeria athletes set for training tour

Nigerian athletes preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Games may at last go on training tour of Europe, Asia and America.

Sources close to the National Sports Commission, NSC hinted that the athletes that have been in camp across the country may soon proceed on a training tour for the

final phase of the preparation for the Olympic Games holding between July and August in London.

The impeccable source said arrangement has been concluded for the tour which may commerce next month. "We have received some money and have to quickly take the athletes on training tour to enable them prepare adequately for the Games'.

The athletes currently camping in Benin, Owerri, Bauchi, Yenagoa among other centres have been told to round off their training locally for the tour billed for the first week of next month. The athletes we are told will travel to London for the Games from the training tour.

Nigeria will take part in athletics, taekwondo, boxing, weightlifting, wrestling powerlifting. The training tour which was scheduled to begin earlier was postponed due to lack of funds.
