Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi   There was apprehension among passengers, motorists and airport workers on Wednesday, following rumours that a bomb has been planted somewhere along the busy airport road in Ikeja.

The fear of a possible explosion around both the new and old domestic terminals propelled security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, the Air Force and other security agencies to deploy their personnel on the road.

The officials screened all cars that rode into both airport terminals during the period.

The intense security checks carried out, with the use of a mobile anti - explosive device put through cars at the entrance and exit points of the terminals caused traffic gridlock along the airport road.

As a fall out of the traffic gridlock most passengers, especially those who had early traveling arrangements trekked some metres to gain access into the  terminal before boarding their flights.

The Police Commissioner in charge of the airport, Mr. Olatunji CaulCrick, told reporters that the exercise was important because of the security reports received by the command, about a possible bomb attack at the busy facility.
