UMUAHIA – IN a bid to give Nigerians credible, free and fair elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has embarked on voter education campaign in secondary schools  to inculcate in youths efficient and effective electoral process.

To this end, the commission has commenced zonal voter education workshops in secondary schools under the programme, "Catching them Young for Democratic Governance".

The campaign would be handled by school principals in liaison with INEC.

Declaring open a meeting between INEC and school principals at the Kolping Society Conference Hall, Umuahia, Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Jacob Jatau, described the secondary schools voter education as "unique" because it has deviated from the traditional voter education for political parties, politicians, traditional rulers and socio-economic groups.
