Why online voting is still being discouraged

Online voting has failed in some countries as some smart hackers managed to hack and manupulate the results just to prove that the exercise is not secure enough to be trusted with an important exercise like general elections.

In United states for instance, there is technology that could see Americans vote online, something that could improve the voter turnout tremendously. The problem however is the level cybersecurity. Even though online voting has been tried in schools and states to elect representatives, some of them have failed hence derailing the effort to implement online voting.

Interviews with the key officials confirms that the cyber safety raises queries making it the hardest nut to crack.

Intrestingly, online voting has been successful in some countries, a good example being Estonia. Estonia has been holding online voting since 2005. However unlike other developing countries or the developed countries but with huge population, Estonia has a national identification system for its citizens.
