Master's and Honors Scholarships for South African Students in the field of Labor Markets Economics, Education Economics and Information Management/Systems in South Africa, 2013

Study Subject(s): Labor Markets Economics; Education Economics and Information Management/Systems.

Course Level: This scholarship is for pursuing Masters and Honors degree level.

Scholarship Provider: HSRC and NRF

Scholarship can be taken at: South Africa

Eligibility:

Applicants must have obtained their previous degree in the minimum prescribed period. An exception is made for Black (African, Colored and Indian) students who may have taken an additional year to complete their previous degree.

• Applicants that already hold a degree at the level for which they are applying are not eligible.

• Full time employees of Higher Education Institutions are not eligible to apply.

• All NRF/HSRC scholarships awards should be help as the primary funding source.

• Scholarships must not be held simultaneously with a bursary/ scholarship from any other government, NRF or NRF administered source.

• Scholarship-holders are allowed to hold non- binding supplementary grants or emoluments to half the value of the NRF/HSRC award or the award can be supplemented to the university capped value for the level of study.

• Scholarship-holders must not hold full-time salaried employment during the tenure of the award.

• Scholarship- holders will be allowed to undertake a maximum of 12 hours of teaching, tutorials, assistance or demonstrations duties per week on average during the year of study

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of South Africa can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The objective of the Labour Markets Intelligence Partnership (LMIP) Bursary Programme is to build human capacity in the sector to facilitate coherence and complementarity in the research field to ensure a more effective impact of research on policy, and to increase the national pool of researchers, especially of African and women researchers working in the area of higher education and training, skills development, information management/systems and labour market data analysis.

What does it cover? Honors Scholarships R 60 000 p.a and Masters Scholarships R 100 000 p.a

Selection Criteria: Applicants should have obtained an aggregate of at least 60% in their previous degree.  Applicants must give a summary of their proposed research study as requested under the details of research.  In the proposal summary applicants must reflect an intention to work with (e.g. analyse) or manage (e.g. curate) labour market related datasets.
