Arsenal's chief executive Ian Gazidis will replace Manchester United's David Gill as the European Club Association's representative on UEFA's professional football strategy council.
The ECA executive board decided at its meeting in Moscow on Tusday to appoint Gazidis, who has been actively involved within the organisation since 2008.
He is currently chairman of the ECA legal advisory panel and member of the ECA competitions working group.
"I am delighted to be joining these important groups which are hugely influential in the future direction of the game in Europe," Gazidis said. "I am looking forward to representing the top European clubs in many important debates as we move ahead."
