Master's and Doctoral Research Disabilities Scholarship for South African Students in South Africa, 2013

Eligibility:

Only students intending to study or studying towards research based Master's and Doctoral degrees will be considered for funding. -To increase the number of South African postgraduate students in scarce skills disciplines.

Scholarship Description: The Department of Higher Education and Training togetehr with the NRF are pleased to announce specific funding support for students with disabilities. The definition of a person with disabilities is defined according to The Code of Good Practice on Employment of People with Disabilities and the Employment Equity Act, 1998. In this round of applications, only students intending to study or studying towards research based Masters and Doctoral degrees will be considered for funding. In line with the national imperative of equity and redress, the programme prioritizes support for disabled students at 4% of the allocated programme budget.

What does it cover?

Master's students will receive R60,000 per annum for two years. In addition each student may access a maximum of R10,000 for conference attendance or a study visit during the course of the two years.

b. Doctoral students will receive R90,000 per annum for three years. In addition each student may access a maximum of R40 000 for international study visits or conference presentations, and up to R15, 000 for local conference attendance within the three-year period.

Selection Criteria: In line with the national imperative of equity and redress, the programme prioritises support for disabled students at 4% of the allocated programme budget.
