Babalola speaks at BusinessDay Banking Conference

Remi Babalola, minister of state for finance, will be speaking at the forthcoming BusinessDay banking conference scheduled to hold February 11, 2010. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will be the keynote speaker at the conference with the theme, 'Banking Reforms in Nigeria: What Next after CBN's Intervention'.

Other experts confirmed to be at the conference include Svein Harald Oygard, former governor, Central Bank of Iceland, who presently is a director at Mckinsey and Company; Mario Blejer, former governor of the Central Bank of Argentina and former director, Centre for Central Banking Studies, London; Razia Khan, head of economic research and regional head of research, Africa at Standard Chartered Bank, UK; Tara O'Connor, managing director, Africa Risk Consulting, UK; Bjorn Christian Stein, director, German-Based global banking development solutions; Luca del Conte, executive director, treasury and capital markets, Medicapital Bank Plc, UK, and Dalvinder Singh, associate professor of law, University of Warwick.

The conference panelists are made up of informed financial sector experts such as Onno Ruhl, World Bank country representative to Nigeria; Rotimi Oyekanmi, CEO, Rencap, Nigeria; Solomon Quaynor of International Finance Corporation (IFC); Bismarck Rewane, CEO, Financial Derivatives, Lagos, and Temitope Osikoya, director general, West African Monetary Institute, Accra, Ghana.The conference which holds at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos will also feature emerging issues which include options for recapitalising bailed-out banks; insuring depositors' fund; banking risk management, and corporate governance and regulation.
