Mainz dump Schalke out, Bayern cruise

Schalke continued their dismal run of form as the 2011 German Cup winners crashed out of this season's competition with a 2-1 defeat at home to second division Mainz. Bundesliga-topping Bayern had no such trouble, seeing off Augsburg 2-0.
