Role Summary/Purpose:

The Marketing Manager for Distributed Power will be instrumental in setting the strategic direction to build out GE Africa's capability in SSA and deliver on growth expectations. As a member of the GE Africa Distributed Power commercial leadership team and reporting to the GM DP in SSA, you will be responsible for developing a Gold standard marketing (go- to-market) capability.

Essential Responsibilities    – Developing and deploying a systematic commercial strategy and growth agenda for distributed power platform in the region  – Manage requests regarding segmentation, country assessments, market intelligence, value proposition development, customer profiles, scenario planning, win/loss analysis, Go-To- Market activities, and regulatory policy support.  – Conduct Deep Dives and in-depth market research studies looking into various opportunities for growth in white spaces. These studies will include, but are not necessarily limited to, conducting Voice of Customer meetings, market sizing, segmentation, competitive analysis, policy and regulatory analysis, technology options, barrier analysis, and project financing.  – Own the forecasting analysis for distributed power generation in the region while closely working with the respective P&L team in refining and updating the project opportunities in the database  – Support GE business platforms leading and facilitating the growth playbook process and establish direction for the overall GE DP platform  – Collaborate and work closely with GE business units to create a clear view of success for GE DP SSA  – Work cross- functionally to drive strategy implementation delivering against growth projections  – Creating systems and processes that leverage market intelligence capabilities and support execution against growth opportunities  – Create and drive supporting operating mechanisms around organic growth activities  – Engage with senior government officials, policy makers and government advisors in the region in discussions aimed at policy-reform or shaping new policies in order to serve GE DP long-term strategic objectives in the region.  – Actively engage with GE DP platform to support expansion of sales distribution channels  – Develop region- wide intelligence warehouse to create consistent, data driven insights into region dynamics including competitive insights, risk-metrics, socio- political and industry trends  – Facilitate GE enterprise/solution selling and cross business referrals  – Become the Knowledge Management Leader in SS Africa for DP through regular tracking of Greenfield project announcements, expansion plans in Brownfield facilities, and national industrial development plans, emergency power etc.  – Gain in-depth knowledge of key industrial sectors and facilities in priority Africa countries, including their long-term strategic objectives of these plants, energy challenges (power generation, fuels availability, etc.) operational challenges, environmental issues, labor issues, financing issues, etc.  – Track competitive actions within the power generation landscape in SS Africa, including business models and technology deployment strategies adopted by key competitors (including Chinese OEMs) and preparing regular updates to share with P&Ls on these actions.  – Work with the P&Ls in the region from Power & Water, Oil & Gas, transportation and other relevant teams to design an integrated GE solution for industrial facilities and taking this solution to the customer.  – Identify, design and execute Demand Creation activities and initiatives for select Industrial P&Ls in the region.  – Assist in the definition and execution of regional, product line growth strategies across the DP portfolio.  – Champion growth as a process using gold standard marketing frameworks  – Support innovation across the business including the localization of existing GE business capabilities to execute against agreed upon growth opportunities  – Identify and support implementation of Imagination Breakthrough  – Support GE operational processes including operating plan and SII  – Grow ECLP programs

Qualifications/Requirements    – MBA  – Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in business or marketing  – A degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering  – 5-8 or more years commercial experience in Marketing, Sales or Product Management roles, of which must include commercial experience in the region. At least three year's experience in Marketing, driving programs and projects specific to the region, including market assessments, segmentation, and VOC/I activities.  – Previous experience developing overall marketing strategy for a product or service line of business, ideally within the energy  – Business Development skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.  – Self starter  – Team player  – Experience in a multinational environment; diplomatic approach.  – Service excellence and strong customer focus.  – Ability to priorities multi-task workload and meet tight deadlines.  – High energy and self-starter with a proven track record in driving change.  – Global mindset and global career interest.  – Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills; proven ability to work well in a matrix environment  – Professional experience in commercial/sales leadership roles  – Ability to present projects with internal and external stakeholders  – Good knowledge of GE and its product portfolio  – Customer centric approach –ability to understand how to proactively identify customer needs  – Demonstrate GE values and growth leadership traits-integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decision making, communication, actions and when dealing with others  – Commercial, customer facing, background in sales, marketing or business development, consultancy experience is a decisive factor  – Clear understanding and experience in complex transactions in developing countries with an appreciation for the regional complexities of doing business in Africa  – Excellent understanding of the regional economics with respect to regulatory impacts & subsidies and clear understanding and appreciation of the socio-political dimension within the region.
