Lava International, the company that released the world's first Intel Atom-based smartphone in India - the XOLO X900 - is now set to launch the new XOLO X500. The new handset is based on Intel's new Atom processor, formerly known as 'Lexington', designed specifically for low-cost smartphones.

The Atom Z2420 on the X500 is clocked at 1.2GHz and uses Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, which theoretically doubles the processor cores per physical core, making it more efficient. It also uses PowerVR SGX540 GPU, good enough for casual gaming.

The XOLO X500 has a 3.5-inch, 480 x 320 resolution display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory with microSD card slot, 5 megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and 6fps burst mode, 1,500mAh battery, dual-SIM card support and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Lava XOLO X500 is said to be priced at ₹8,999 ($168) unlocked and should go on sale in India shortly.
