IN Anambra State, there were reports of irregularities over the voter registration exercise.

In Ihiala Council Area, over 10 communities, including Lilu, Mbosi, Uzuakwa, Umuchima, and Umuoma had sent a 'save our soul' message to the state Resident Electoral Commission, Prof. Chukwuemeka  Onukaogu, to hurriedly come to their aid by dispatching Direct Data Capture  machines to such areas. Even a community leader at Luli town, Mr. Polycarp Olikenyi, lamented that over 30,000 eligible voters could be disenfranchised at the end of the registration exercise if the continued dearth of DDC continues in the council area.

However, the REC speaking through the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Frank Eboh, on Friday said the situation if at all it occurred in Ihiala, has been taken care of with the arrival and deployment of over extra 805 DDC machines received about one week ago.

According to Eboh, "having received over 800 DDC gadgets, all the local governments in the state not earlier covered have now been taken care off. There was a time when we were not in all places, but INEC's presence is now felt in all the corners of Anambra State. He strongly denied knowledge of the Ihiala Community experience as  argued that no reports were received. "INEC deals with petitions and there was none from Ihiala to the best of my knowledge. But as soon as the balance of 805 DDC Machines were supplied to the state, we sent them out to respective locations. In all locations, our staff are very busy with registration, even tomorrow (yesterday)."
