Kogi – The Police in Kogi has confirmed the arrest of the Kogi Commissioner for Commerce, Mr Ali Ajuh over his alleged involvement in the violence that rocked Abejukolo town at the weekend.

The command's spokesman, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, told newsmen on Sunday in Lokoja that the acting Chairman of Omala Local Government Council, Mr Aminu Atabo, was also arrested for the same offence.

Okasanmi said that Ajuh and Atabo were already helping the police in its investigation, to unravel the circumstances that led to the violent clash in which about 10 persons sustained injuries.

Although, the police spokesman refused to give details, it was gathered that the violence occurred when people loyal to Ajuh and Atabo clashed at a prayer session.

The prayer session was organised by the people of Omala Local Government to welcome Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, a former governor of the state back home after a successful two-term tenure.

The incident, which led to a temporary disruption of socio-economic activities in the town, was later brought under control by the P2olice.
