Operations Science (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints) continues to serve as a catalyst and foundational element for the success of GCD's Transformation. Through Operations Science we expect to increase our predictability and benefits delivered to customers, and we also expect to increasingly develop a technical competency that furthers "Precision Delivery" and Right-First-Time in our delivery operations.

Through the development of operations science capability and competency, we expect to extend Alcatel-Lucent's technology and engineering strengths into our Services and Delivery operations-complementing our product innovation capabilities making us a much more valuable and relevant partner to our customers.

To create such a sustainable core capability and core competency in Operations Science across GCD, within the "Lean Six Sigma Practice" we have created the "Operations Science & Change Management" department with the mission and responsibility for defining and bringing into reality the full potential and benefits from an Operations Science capability across GCD.

Job Position Summary Description:

This leadership role is responsible for managing the department's responsibilities, which include:  training, coaching, certification, and supporting Ops Science application into projects as well as tracking the benefits and bringing the GCD Ops Science community together to accelerate our collective efforts and gains.

The candidate is expected to develop specific plans to introduce, deploy, consolidate and control the use of key principles of Operations Science in a project context or through a community of operation science professionals.

The candidate for this position will interact directly with senior management, and must exhibit a broad range of knowledge and experience on both Alcatel-Lucent's delivery challenges.

The candidate not only must contribute from a content perspective, but also has to be able to function well in a team environment implementing process based, data driven, operational reviews and that will draw on that professional discipline to analyze and resolve fundamental business problems.

Key Responsibilities / Functions:

•         Lead the development and creation of and an "Operations Science Practice" (Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints,...) across GCD.

•         Defining and planning required Operations Science training (Coach/advise the leadership and organization on a strategy that leads to creating an industry leading practice which translates into customer, financial, performance, employee engagement benefits.

•         Green Belt, Black Belt, etc), GB/BB coaching for project execution (whether with a focus on improvements and/or to achieve certification)

•         Operations Science is a catalyst for Change, hence, the practice also has responsibility to develop an integrated Change Management program

•         Addressing the basics/fundamentals of change management (unified methodology, readiness assessment, resistance management, tailored communications & training plans, etc.) overall and within each of GCD's transformation programs.

•         Providing the tools, processes, skills and principles required by individuals to break-through obstacles and successfully drive changes with colleagues required by new processes/systems/behaviors etc.

•         Assist leaders of Transformation programs and initiatives in building program plans that incorporate industry-standard people change management approaches, with clear task descriptions and accountability assignments, generating necessary program/initiative metrics (e.g. effort to date, estimated cost to complete), and ensuring program/initiative success.

•         Coach and train line managers and MC Senior GCD leaders

•         Lead the GCD community of operations science professionals

•         Select, train, assess and coach Green Belts, Black Belts and Master Black Belts

•         Direct development of training curriculum to build operation science and change leadership capability throughout the company.

•         Develop communication materials, tools, and instructional support to develop broader lean, 6 sigma, Theory of Constraints capabilities.

Required Qualifications (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge):

•         Successful operations science experience, with proven knowledge and strong understanding of corporate organizational behavior, human resources, and communications concepts, approaches, tools and methodologies with a Master Black Belt Certification.

•         Advanced degree in business – MBA, ideally in combination with technical or organizational behavior degrees.

•         General telecom / IT / IPS industry knowledge

•         Excellent written and oral communications skills at senior executive level.

•         Strong project management skills.

•         Able to prioritize, make fast decisions well, give concise situation updates, and escalate appropriately..

•         Ability to work under pressure, in ambiguous situations, comfortable converting general concepts into tangible actions with limited

•         Strategic thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

•         Demonstrated ability to lead across organizational lines, by influence and with finesse, and work effectively across cultures, languages, time-zones, in a remote management set-up (distributed organization)

•         Demonstrated ability to create networks of partners across the organization

•         Comfortable interacting with customer and Alcatel-Lucent leaders at all levels.

•         Demonstrate a deep understanding of services, technology and solutions portfolios, and the delivery processes.
