Education:   

•   Bachelor Degree or Equivalent in Engineering or Associated Discipline.

•   Post Graduate degree would be an added advantage.   

Experience: Minimum of 15 years relevant experience with at least Eight of those years in a management role within the Oil and Gas industry

Purpose:

•   This position will be responsible for Well design, drilling and workover/completions operations and associated activities. The Jobholder coordinates rig inquiries, rig inspections, HSE criteria and monitoring, formal and informal rig bids and selection, site preparation and rig mobilization/demobilizations. Ensures that all procedures for drilling, pre-completion and completion have been thoroughly reviewed and approved and that when the operations fall outside of the scope detailed in the initial drilling procedure, that new procedures be developed to ensure that "applied engineering" is utilized to continue the operations.

•   The Candidate for this position is to team up with other Senior business leaders to ensure alignment of the responsibilities as indicated below to achieve the strategic corporate vision of the organization with year on year delivery of business targets..

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

•   Lead interface with the Asset teams on assigned platform or wells to ensure alignment in all Wells Development and Execution Process planning works, using alternative scenarios and options, time and cost estimates for a variety of well designs and operations such as slot recoveries, Extended Reach Development (ERD) and horizontal wells and multilaterals, and ensure all well objectives are identified and documented, including all mechanical risk factors and mitigating actions.

•   Use Decision Analysis and Project Development & Execution Process tools for project decision making to: Perform outline and detailed well designs for assigned platform, create technical-limit performance curves and detailed time/cost estimates for final well design, develop the detailed operational procedures, liaise with subsurface professionals in all aspects of well design and provide operational support to the Drilling Superintendent during the execution phase of all the projects.

•   Ensure Risk Uncertainty Management Reviews (RUMS), Management of Change (MOC), peer reviews, Drilling the Well on Paper (DWOPS) and well examination process are incorporated.

•   Provide technical input for all required contracts following the Design &Construction Contract Management Processes.

•   Prepare and submit all relevant Governmental and HSE and Directorate Petroleum Resources (DPR) Notifications and approvals within required timetables, to achieve the planned start date for well operations and ensure all notifications and approvals are all in place before well construction commences.

•   Support Partner approval processes for detailed well objectives, well design and time cost estimates provide day-to-day operational support to the Drilling Superintendent during ongoing well operations.

•   Seek to optimize all aspects of the operations, capture and analyze lessons learnt, for consolidation and application to other wells.

•   Ensure compliance with Well Examination Process, Risk Uncertainty Management reviews (RUMS) and Management of Change processes.

•   Follow through to close out all Well completion deliverables, final well report, close out of tech-limit for well, close out all DPR permit requirements and work with drilling and completion professionals and relevant teams to evaluate, address and resolve well integrity issues that may develop with existing producing / injection wells.

•   Maintain professional technical capabilities, in particular, awareness of new or novel drilling techniques and processes to enhance D&C effectiveness and efficiency and be a role model for safety leadership, behaviors and mentor/coach less experienced engineers..

Competencies Required:

•   Track record of Incident Free Operations (IFO) delivery in active drilling environment with expertise in Operational Excellence (OE) Management Tools deployment.

•   Substantial drilling design, operations support and supervision experience.

•   Sound knowledge of Well Engineering (Drilling casing design, torque and drag and hydraulics and Completions) with 10 years experience in Well Planning and Execution roles.

•   Ability to identify, assess and appropriately mitigate risks to personnel safety, the environment, and system performance in all aspects of drilling operations.

•   Awareness of industry technical advancements and applications.

•   Managing contracts; monitoring and approving contractor's plans, procedures and work output.

•   Good interpersonal and communication skills, team engagement and ability to influence across organization.

•   Learning and mentoring culture in team, with a commitment to continually develop the competency of self and less experienced staff.

•   Managing interfaces with other disciplines such as Subsurface and Subsea..
