2012/2013 Federal Government of Nigeria Undergraduate & Postgraduate Scholarship

The Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Raqayyatu Ahmed Rufai has invited applicants from qualified Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions to participate in the 2012/2013 selection interviews for Federal Government of Nigeria  Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarship Awards tenable in Nigeria tertiary institutions.

Nigerian Award is one of the two Divisions of the Federal Scholarship Board.  It processes and implements scholarship awards for Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Higher National Diploma and National Certificate in Education.

Under Nigerian Award, the following programmes are covered by the Federal Government scholarship scheme Tenable in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions:
•   Postgraduate (PG) Award
•   Undergraduate (UG) Award
•   Higher National Diploma (HND) Award
•   National Certificate in Education (NCE) Award.

CONDITIONS OF AWARD

•   The scholarship is tenable in Nigeria and takes effect from the beginning of each academic session.  It lapses if not utilized within this period.
•   It shall not be held at the same time with another Award nor for part-time studies.
•   Change of course or level or the Institution of award is not allowed.
•   The Scholarship allowance is meant to cover: Institution's charges, fees and Personal maintenance allowance.

Field of study include:
•   Science and Technology.
•   Medicine and Para-medicals.
•   Science Subjects with Education.
•   Arts and other Subjects with Education.
•   Liberal Arts/Social/Management Sciences
•   Law.
•   HND (Science and Technology).
•   NCE.

Value of award:
•   Under-Graduate Scholars:  N150, 000 per annum
•   Post-Graduate Scholars: N180, 000 per annum
•   HND: N100, 000 per annum
•   NCE: N100, 000 per annum

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Undergraduate, HND & NCE Scholarship

All applicants should be registered full–time students in their second year or above in recognized Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. They should also obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year's examinations.

2. Postgraduate Scholarship

Applicants must be registered full–time students of recognized Federal and State owned universities and must have a minimum of second class Honours (upper division) in 1st degrees.

GENERAL INFORMATION

•   Duly completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centers.
•   Completed application forms should be accompanied with Photocopies of Letter of admission to the institution, Current Course Registration Form and Student Identity Card.
•   Two passport –size photographs with name fully written at the back.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

•   Application forms are available online at (Nigeria Award Application Section Overview - Federal Scholarship Board) and which should be filled and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions.
•   All qualified candidates who have fully completed the prescribed application forms for the Nigerian Awards scholarship are to attend selection interviews as scheduled below.

INTERVIEW DATES

1.   Northern States: (North East , North West & North Central ) 15th -  19th April 2013
2.   Southern States: (South East, South West, South South) 8th -12th April 2013

INTERVIEW VENUE

Federal Unity School in each State Capital including FCT. Where no Unity School in the state Capital, candidates should contact The Secretary, State Scholarship Board in that state.

4. SOUTH-EAST: 8th - 12th April, 2013 (Monday - Saturday)
5. SOUTH-WEST: 8th - 12th April, 2013 (Monday - Saturday)
6. SOUTH-SOUTH: 8th - 12th April, 2013 (Monday - Saturday)

SCHEDULES FOR INSTITUTIONS

•   Universities: Monday - Tuesday
•   Polytechnics: Wednesday
•   Colleges of Education (COE): Thursday
•   Collation:  Friday
•   Departure:  Saturday
•   Federal Government Unity College In Each State Capital

Please Note the following:
•   Application forms that are incorrectly/ incompletely filled or without the necessary documents will not be processed.
•   All application forms must be duly signed and stamped by the applicants HOD and Registrar.
•   Candidates are to attend interviews with writing materials such as pen, HB pencil and eraser.
•   Interview starts by 8:00am daily.
•   Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to the interview schedule.
