I'm interested in Technical Director job - Adegboye Onigbinde

Former national team coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has rubbished reports in the media that the Nigeria Football Federation, have shortlisted him and three other indigenous coaches for the vacant post of the Technical Director of all the national teams.

There were rumours earlier this week that the Modakeke High Chief who clocked the age of 75 yesterday, alongside coach Shuaibu Amodu and Christian Chukwu, are in pole position to bag the plum job; but the former Technical Adviser of the Trinidad and Tobago national team dismissed such insinuation saying he was never in the good books of the federation due to his avowed insistence on professionalism and thoroughness in the administration of the game in the country.

"I am not aware of anything like that and I am hearing it from you now for the first time," began the man who was the first indigenous manager to coach to the senior national team to FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan 2006.

"As a matter of fact, I was in Abuja last Friday for our national convention (as coaches) and I can categorically tell you that there was no contact whatsoever; in the contrary, some people in football house were bent on selling the candidates of their choice ahead of the meeting, I was not happy about that development and had to rush back to my base in Ibadan through Lagos. It means that nothing has changed as far as administration of football is concerned in Nigeria but my stance has often been misconstrued for arrogance. I don't think I am eager to take any position in Nigerian football again because at my age and experience, why should I be running after anybody to give me a job again?" he asked rhetorically.
