As the Local Government election approaches, the Bayelsa state Deputy Governor, Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah has appealed to Bayelsans to embrace peace in the interest of the state.

The Deputy Governor made the appeal at a football match organized to commemorate his 59th birthday anniversary at the Gloryland castle, Government House in Yenagoa.

He particularly urged his kinsmen in the Nembe Local Government area to shun electoral violence, stressing that peace is paramount to the development of the state.

According to John Jonah, the present administration has put in place measures to forestall any act that could scuttle the current development efforts of government.

On his birthday anniversary, the Deputy Governor expressed appreciation to his well wishers and the organizers of the football match, stating that the team work exhibited among the players was symbolic and should be emulated to foster unity among the people of the state.

The Creek Haven All Stars emerged winners of the match, beating their counterparts of Creek Haven Young Stars by 7 goals to 6 through penalty kicks after a 3-3 stalemate at the end of regulation time.
