John Obuh names squad for title defence

Nigeria men's Under-20 team head coach, John Obuh has announced his final squad of 21 players for the defence of the African Youth Championship (AYC) in Algeria this month.

Obuh named a team that included three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders and five strikers in Tunis on Wednesday.

Dolphins' petite midfielder, Abduljeleel Ajagun is picked as captain of the Flying Eagles. He was a member of the squad that won the AYC in South Africa in May 2011.

The quartet of Mohammed Goyi Aliyu, Aigbe Oliha, Edafe Egbedi and Olanrewaju Kayode also make the squad.

Nigeria's Flying Eagles are in Group B alongside Mali, Gabon and DR Congo while hosts, Algeria, Benin Republic, Ghana and Egypt make up Group A.

Obuh's men will start their title defence against their Malian counterparts in the city of Oran on March 17.

The 2013 AYC holds in Algeria between March 16 and 30.
