Applications
Applications must include:
• photocopy of the applicant’s identity card or passport
• degree certificate (applicants who hold a foreign degree should attach their degree certificate(s) and grade transcript(s) both in the original language and in English)
• curriculum vitae in English
• research proposal (max 5 pages/2500 words) in English, in one of the areas studied in the International Studies programme, including a short statement (max. 500 words) outlining their reasons for undertaking doctoral research and for choosing International Studies at the University of Trento
• certificate(s) attesting the knowledge of the English language at least C1 level (e.g. IELTS score 7, minimum band score of 6.5 on each of the 4 modules of the academic version; Cambridge CAE or CPE (minimum grade B); TOEFL IBT minimum score of 100; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic minimum score 76), in case English is not the candidate’s mother tongue or if the candidate has not graduated from a BA or MA programme entirely taught in English.
Please note that the TOEFL code control of the school of international studies is 6286.
Applications may include:
• two letters of recommendation in English or Italian from experts in the doctoral research areas. The letters must be sent by the referees using one of the following ways
o by email to ateneo@unitn.it. Referees must indicate in the email object: “Letter of Reference for CANDIDATE’S LAST NAME/NAME, PhD in International Studies”;
o by fax to the School of International Studies number +39 0461 283152;
o by mail to the following address: Prof. Vincent Della Sala, PhD in International Studies Coordinator, c/o Ufficio Protocollo, via Belenzani 12, 38122 Trento – Italy.a list of publications
• copies of (selected) publications
• any other qualifications such as international examinations (GRE or equivalent)
• any other documents that attest to the research skills and abilities of the candidate.
