Stephen Keshi pick nine players for Kenya tie

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has picked nine out of the 24 invited domestic players for the Fifa World Cup qualifier against the Harambee Stars of Kenya at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday.

Keshi said there will be no need to start listing the players who did not make the team or those that made it as all the players will soon return to camp in preparation for some friendlies and the upcoming Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Spokesman of the team, Ben Alaiya revealed that the usual suspects like Chigozie Agbim, Sunday Mba, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Godfrey Oboabona and Gabriel Reuben are expected to be in the squad.

Those who did not make the Calabar cut will be known at dinner on Sunday because of Keshi's respect for all invited players.

The Eagles and the technical crew will depart for Calabar on Monday morning together with the nine NPFL stars, said the team's secretary, Dayo Enebi Achor.

"By the evening of Monday we expect that some of the players invited will start linking up with us in Calabar for the final leg of preparations for the World Cup qualifier against Kenya," he said.
