Black Satellites get first AYC win

The Black Satellites are back in the U-20 African Youth Championships contention following a 1-0 win against Benin. Ebenezer Assifuah scored the crucial goal.

Ghana thus are ninety minutes away from booking a World Cup slot in addition to getting a semi-final place in this championship.

The Group A win in the team's first and has boosted morale all round. This is ahead of their last group game against hosts, Algeria on Friday in Ain Temouchent.

Ebenezer Assifuah has also now recorded two goals in two games, following his strike against Egypt in Ghana's opening 2-1 defeat. But the technically team will be worried about the young striker's profligacy.

Also coming for stick was Michael Anaba, who is being used on the wings, rather than centrally, where he is more comfortable.
