Main Purpose of the Job: – To provide first level support for all custom-developed applications and third-party applications provided by other vendors, and to contact the vendors involved whenever there is a need to carry out upgrades or fix a major error. – Ensuring that all incidents are responded to and resolved within the required MTTR. Also ensure that calls are escalated and communicated to the required support area and user. – To ensure that all reports relating to internal custom-developed applications are promptly generated and presented for review by appropriate individuals and departments. – It is imperative that the necessary housekeeping takes place on a hourly/daily/weekly/monthly basis as per the job requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, install and support custom-developed applications as well as vendor-provided software

• Responsible for administration and monitoring of software systems and intranet web applications

• Administration of application servers

• Responding to and resolving incidents

• Provide backup and data restoration procedures

• Ensure 24-hour availability of applications and software systems

Key Performance Measures:

• Percentage uptime of application systems and software

• Number of user-reported application-related issues resolved

• IT Audit rating by Internal Audit, Routine Control, and external audit

• No service impact

• Reduced number of incidents

• Successful implementations

• Meet deadlines

• Ensure that service disruptions due to system downtime are minimized.

• Professional assistance to large projects in relation to Application acquisition and deployment.

• Adherence to programming practice

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• B.Sc. Degree

• Project Management Certification

• Demonstrable Programming skills

• Demonstrable knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems

Problem Solving, Planning and Decision Making

Problem Solving:

• Set and ensure adherence to development methodology and procedures with regards to application deployment

• Resolve problems related to system and application availability.

• Resolve user issues related to software application usage.

• Develop applications to solve user-specific or department-specific IT-related problems

Planning:

• Ensure processes are in place for minimizing system/application downtime

• Set procedures for backing up applications and related data.

Personal Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Excellent customer relationship and ability to manage client expectations

• Proven ability to work under stress in emergencies; flexibility to handle pressure coming from all directions simultaneously

• Strong team-orientated interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people at all levels
