Job Description:

•   The Chief Technologist drives the development of the HP SAP solution strategy to the market with special focus on HANA, SAP’s next generation in-memory database.   The individual will work closely with HP and SAP Business Units and Engineering teams to architect the product and services roadmap for HANA.   Serves as the Executive SAP HANA strategist and consultant to HP’s top customers, supporting HP account teams to identify opportunities and close deals. Has the maturity and business acumen to become a trusted advisor for customers to discuss their long-term business strategy and needs, and is able to build a concise, compelling business case for major IT transformations that contains TCO/ROI use cases based on HP products and services.

•   The Chief Technologist SAP leverages far reaching relationships with customers, with their customers, with their partners, and across HP and HP’s partners to create a vision and architect the solution across all the entities.  He/she understands the requirements of HANA in-memory software to support mission critical operations, possesses deep knowledge of big-data In-Memory databases, Linux operating system and multi-processing CPU architectures. Is well connected to HP server and storage engineering at Executive level to refine HP solutions to best run with SAP HANA and helps co-invent innovative HANA solutions with an embedded HP technology across all HP product and services BUs. Will establish a long term relationship with the SAP’s business Executives and IT functions.  

•   The Chief Technologist SAP HANA represents the HP thought leadership and portfolio to SAP and to our customers, working closely with our customers in SAP core-development departments on Executive level, recommending best usage of HP’s technology. This role also requires strong programs management proficiency in order that the candidate be able to effectively drive cross-group projects.

•   As an Executive speaker with experience based on successful highly complex engagements, the Chief Technologist SAP will represent HP at selected customer and partner events and position HP’s SAP solution offerings.


•   Provides overall leadership for multiple organizations involved with designing and developing engineering solutions for HP’s SAP solution offerings.

•   Creates strategic vision across HP BUs for HP SAP HANA solutions and drives the development of operations and resource plans, goals, and priorities based on business and technology roadmap and functional objectives for HP’s SAP HANA offering.

•   Engages with senior and executive leadership for programs, marketing, supply chain, and technical leaders to integrate activities, escalate and resolve issues, and guide and influence company-wide strategic decision-making for SAP solutions, esp. HANA.

•   Manages and develops executive relationships with SIs to drive joint solution development around SAP HANA.

•   Communicates technical strategy within the organization and/or across the function.

•   Provides overall program office management in overseeing and directing key GTM projects.


Education and Experience:

•              First level university degree, Advanced degree preferred; 15 years’ experience in project management or in like roles/businesses.

•              Has experience in each of the HP Services business units and with global projects.

Knowledge & Skills:

•              Has an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the critical business success factors.

•              Has an extensive understanding of critical project management techniques; PMP Certified

•              Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

•              Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with executive/C-level roles for internal and external partners

•              Highly experienced in managing human capital across geographies and functional areas to drive solution development and achieve desired results

•              Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more engineering, technology, and product domains

•              Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation)

•              Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills
