Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences offers two Film Scholars Award Program in USA. The students of USA can apply for this scholarship. The award is provided to study in cultural, educational, historical, theoretical or scientific aspects of theatrical motion pictures. Candidate must propose a new work, in the English language, encompassing some aspect of theatrical motion picture art, science, commerce, history or theory. Works solely exploring television, video or other media arts are not eligible. Application should be sent by post.

Eligibility:1.Applicants must be established scholars, writers, historians or researchers possessing either a significant record of achievement, or exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishments in their field. Applicants must have written and published at least one book or a comparable collection of articles or monographs. 2.Grants are not available to individuals who are actively pursuing degrees at a college or university. 3.Members, employees and affiliates of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (or its affiliated organizations) and their immediate families are not eligible. 4.Each applicant must propose a new work, in the English language, encompassing some aspect of theatrical motion picture art, science, commerce, history or theory. Works solely exploring television, video or other media arts are not eligible. 5.Proposed projects may be books, multimedia presentations, curatorial projects, DVD-ROMs or Internet sites. Projects cannot be film, television or video productions.

Requirements: Grant recipients are required to: -donate two copies of any physical deliverable to the Academy; -present their findings in lecture form at the Academy within a reasonable time frame following the publication of the work; -acknowledge the Academy Film Scholars Program in any written materials, be they final deliverables, interim documents or personal website content; -the Academy's support in any press interviews or social media promotions; and -be reasonably available for press-related activities deemed important by the Academy

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of USA can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: Established scholars, writers and historians are awarded grants to research topics that may include cultural, educational, historical, theoretical or scientific aspects of theatrical motion pictures. A ceremony is held each year to honor the selected Scholars, and each Scholar presents his or her projects or findings in a lecture at the Academy following the completion of their work.

What does it cover?Two grants of $25,000 will be made to qualified and worthy applicants, as reviewed and selected by the Academy's Grants Committee and staff. The Academy will distribute the grant money in two parts: at the commencement and upon completion of the proposed project. The Academy will also cover travel, lodging and per diem expenses, if necessary, for the recipients to attend the Film Scholars awards luncheon and to make their lecture presentation.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is post. Application :The application form for the 2013 cycle will be available the first week of April 2013. Candidates must submit: 1.a completed application form; 2.a project statement (not to exceed five single-spaced pages, including end notes and footnotes); 3.a select bibliography of up to three pages; and 4.a curriculum vitae, including a list of publications. The project statement must: 1.describe the proposed project clearly, defining both the objective and the methodology that will be employed; 2.place the project in academic or professional context by referring to leading works by others on the topic; 3.explain how your professional experience is relevant to the project; and 4.discuss the significance of the project to the field and your own professional development.
