Gabriel Reuben Raises The Bar Again

Since his effortless transition into the Super Eagles under Stephen Keshi, Nigerian international, Gabriel Reuben, has continued to break new grounds. Reuben recently completed a move to Scottish Premier League (SPL) side, Kilmarnock with teammate, Papa Idris.

The move makes the duo the first set of players to move straight from a Nigerian side to Scotland.

Other Nigerians who have played in Scotland moved from European clubs.

In recent times, Efe Ambrose joined SPL side, Celtic from Israel, while Rabiu Ibrahim crossed over to Rugby Park from Glasgow-based Celtic.

Although Reuben scored for Nigeria back in 2010 when he played with others in the domestic league at the West African Football Union (Wafu) Cup, he has since added to his tally with a goal in the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Ironically, he was ignored by former Super Eagles gaffer, Samson Siasia, when the team converged for the 2012 Wafu Cup.

Reuben has since become a key player in the midfield since replacing Dickson Etuhu when the Eagles played Rwanda in Kigali.

In fact, some of the Europe-based stars were turned into businessmen who lost their regular parking spot at a country club after having been away on holidays for weeks.

Reuben was a member of the Nigerian squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
