BARELY a week after unidentified gunmen killed 28 people in Ganye local government area of Adamawa State, 15 persons were again shot dead in Midlu village Saturday.

Midlu, in Madagali local government area of the state, is the home of Deputy Governor, James Bala Ngilari.

According to a resident, the attack took place at about 2am Saturday.

The resident said the assailants went to the Deputy Governor's house and "killed some people."

He said he counted 13 bodies, but added that he could not say how many were actually killed in Ngilari's house.

Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, Mohammed Ibrahim (DSP) confirmed the incident.  He, however, said that 11 people lost their life in the incident.

The Guardian also gathered that unknown gunmen killed two people along Bishop Street in Yola, the state capital, on Friday night.

The Madagali killings took place on the eve of the Adamawa Community Dialogue forum, organised by prominent sons and daughters of the state to find lasting solution to bloody crisis in the state.

While speaking at the forum, Professor Jibril Aminu, who tasked the organisers to brainstorm and come out with decisions that could end violence, said the forum has no political colouration, but it is an avenue to finding a way forward.

Professor Kyari Mohammed, who delivered a paper, blamed politicians for crisis in the North, warning that unless they change their attitude towards power, peace could continue to evade the country.

Hostilities resumed in Plateau State yesterday when gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Karkashi village in Langtang South Local Government Council.

Seven persons lost their life while several others sustained gunshot wounds during the midnight attack.

It was also gathered that gunmen also attacked Zango in Wase council and burnt over 10 houses.

The attack was, however, repelled by the villagers, who killed four of the assailants.

Spokesman for the Special Task Force (STF), Captain Salisu Ibrahim Mustapha, confirmed the killing to journalists.

According to him, at about 2am on Saturday, unknown gunmen stormed the village and killed seven people while others sustained gunshot wounds.

He added that four of the attackers were killed and four were arrested and are being interrogated to know the level of their involvement.

He said that they would be handed over to the police for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.

A clash between two communities, Dadiya and Waja in Balanga local government areas of Gombe State also claimed two lives in Bamabam and Maitunku villages yesterday.

A source told reporters on phone that several houses were burnt in Bamabam village along Gombe-Yola road and that commuters could not pass through the village.

Confirming the incident, the Gombe State Police

Public Relations Officer, Fwaje Atajiri (DSP), said police were drafted to restore normalcy.

Atajiri could not state the cause of the crisis and extent of damage.

However, a source said the clash followed alleged killing of a Waja man and subsequent retaliation by his kinsmen.

As at the time of filing this report, the village was said to be calm.

Atajiri promised to reach reporters with findings from the police.
