Police Probe Kompany's 'Racism' Reports

Police in Britain have revealed that they are studying claims that Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany was racially abused as he gave a television interview after his side's win at Manchester United on Monday.

The Belgium international was being interviewed alongside teammate James Milner in the Old Trafford tunnel area when a voice could be heard off-camera apparently shouting abuse, although it was not clear to television viewers what was said.

"Greater Manchester Police has not received a complaint about racist abuse directed towards any players following last (Monday) night's fixture, however we have now been made aware of this footage by (local newspaper) the Manchester Evening News," a police statement said on Tuesday night.

"The Force will work with both clubs and review any footage to investigate the incident."

Kompany scored an own goal in the match, cancelling out Milner's opening goal for City, but the away side prevailed 2-1 through a late strike from Sergio Aguero.

Neither City nor Kompany made a complaint about the incident.

Whoever is guilty of the offence should be adequately punished. Racism must be eradicated totally
