Job Title: Workshop Manager

Job Description:

•   Oversee, co-ordinate and ensure smooth day to day running of the operations and processes.

•   Develop high quality, cost effective & integrated process/ operational improvement initiatives.

•   Develop a standard for service quality for the entire unit and ensure strict adherence.

•   Ensure that the parts storage is adequately stocked with the needed material for workshop operations to avoid unnecessary delay and inconvenience.

•   Approve requisitions for parts requirements from the strategic procurement unit in line with its requisition policies.

•   Ensure that all vehicles are properly inspected before delivery to customers.

•   Ensure all vehicles meet the delivery timelines as stipulated to customers otherwise delays should be promptly communicated in line with company policies.

•   Maintain a good relationship with customer in order to retain them in the company.

•   Address customer complaints; escalate appropriate issues and follow-up with relevant personnel to ensure proper resolution.

•   Devise improvement on the process shortcomings as highlighted in the daily report on technical issues.

•   Conduct quality control review and communicate any improvement or setback to the Parts/Service Manager.

•   Brief the Parts/Service Manager on the improvements of activities/projects of company.

•   Assist to identify and respond to environmental factors impacting the long term strategic direction of the unit.

Desired Skills & Experience:

•   Excellent understanding of workshop operations and management.

•   Knowledgeable in demand forecasting and analysis.

•   Business strategy development and execution – Ability to constantly analyse the industry as it relates to the sector and identify current trends, hitherto unnoticed opportunities and operate in line with the strategic goals of the company.

•   Objective Setting – Ability to set S.M.A.R.T objectives that will facilitate the achievement of the organization's goals. S.M.A.R.T refers to the acronym that describes the key characteristics of meaningful objectives, which areSpecific (concrete, detailed, well-defined), Measurable (numbers, quantity, comparison), Achievable(feasible, actionable), Realistic (considering resources), Time bound (a defined time line)

•   Leadership – High organizational and supervisory ability – Ability to influence others to do what is to be done. – Must possess good listening skills – Must be fair, goal oriented, responsible and skilled – Must be a good director of affairs both human and material – Must be able to evaluate others

•   Oral & Written Communication skills – Ability to transmit information effectively i.e. in clear, unambiguous terms to employees, management and other stakeholders to facilitate the achievement of the goals and objectives of the organization at all times.

•   Relationship Management

•   Possession of human skills (Ability to interact effectively with people – both staff and customers alike)

• – Ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with customers.

•   Sound ethics and integrity.

•   Must be discernibly honest and of consistent upright character

•   Must be ethical i.e. must follow the ideals and responsibilities of the industry as set out in the code of ethics guiding operations and operators in the industry.

•   Good appreciation and working knowledge of office productivity tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

•   A bachelor's degree in Engineering.

•   Minimum of 8 years relevant experience.

A good working knowledge of world class standard automobile workshop operations is an added advantage.
