Job Description: The horticulturist should have knowledge of many types of plants, flowers and how it grows and must have a managerial skill of design.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

•   overseeing horticultural cultivation, maintenance and weed/pest/disease control programmes;

•   organising horticultural trials;

•   analysing horticultural yields, operational costs and financial returns;

•   maintaining financial and administrative records;

•   writing/modifying business plans; developing new products;

•   negotiating contracts with buyers and suppliers;

•   ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met within set budgets;

•   organising/giving presentations and demonstrations;

•   marketing and selling produce;

•   problem solving;

•   Interested in flower and beautification

Desired Skills & Experience:

•   Bsc/HND holder in horticulture, agriculture, environmental science

•   Relevant Postgraduate is an added advantage

•   Minimum of 10years relevant experience

•   Must have worked in a very large garden

•   Good initiative, commercial awareness and good problem solving, communication, team working and practical cultivation skills

•   Conducts experiments and investigations to determine methods of breeding, producing, storing, processing, and transporting of fruits, nuts, berries, vegetables, flowers, bushes, and trees.

•   May prepare articles and give lectures on horticultural specialty

•   Must have a passion for gardening and well experienced in gardening.

•   Age between 35-50years

Company Description: Sarius Palmetum is seeking the service of a Horticulturist, it is the largest private collection of plants in Nigeria, a botanical gardens with unique collection of world palm tree varieties. It is situated in a steep  valley filled with palms, gazebos, nursery and pathways through the hills of Abuja, Nigeria.
