NFF Won't Cut Keshi’s Salary, But His Bonus

The Nigeria Football Federation have denied rumours that it had slashed the take-home pay of Super Eagles' Head Coach,Stephen Keshi.

"The NFF has a contract with Coach Stephen Keshi, clearly-spelt-out,and we intend to respect that contract. That contract says Keshi is to get N5million as monthly salary. Nothing has changed'',said Emeka Inyama,the federation's media and publicity committee chairman.

"We have talked about auditing of staff of the National Teams,especially backroom staff, as well as pegging of bonuses and allowances. We are constrained to do this as a result of our poor finances and we believe that Nigerians understand we have to do this in order to continue to fulfill our obligation of presenting the National Teams for international competitions and tournaments."

The NFF will however go ahead to cut Keshi's $ 20,000 win bonus by at least 50% while the players will also have their bonuses and allowances cut.

Currently, each player of the Super Eagles receives $10 000 for a win and $5000 for a draw. The head coach and his technical officials get double what the players receive, while other staff get $8000 and $ 4000 for a win and draw respectively.

And for every day of camping, every team member is paid $100 daily allowance. Apart from the camping allowance, the bonuses are expected to be cut by no more than 50 per cent.
