Ghana Regroup After Huge Nigeria Loss

After enduring one of their worst ever defeats in Caf's Under-17 Championship history, Ghana are hoping to bounce against Congo on Wednesday.

The Black Starlets are currently bottom of Group B behind Congo, Cote d'Ivoire and leaders Nigeria after being thumped 6-1 by Golden Eaglets in their opening match in Marrakech on Sunday.

Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin conceded that his tactics failed, but is hopeful his troops can fight back against the Congolese who drew 1-1 with Cote d'Ivoire in their opening game.

"We have to regroup and try to salvage our campaign to reach semi-finals but now we can only look ahead to one game at a time. So we need to have a look at how we approached this game because our tactics and set-up did not work today (Sunday)," Fabin said after the game.

Fabin's task will not be made any easier without his first choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati, who is suspended after being red carded in the Nigeria game.

"Our focus shifts to the next game against Congo and not the one beyond that. And little by little we will see if we can recover from today's set back," the Ghana coach said.
